8th International Video Festival in Kansk

VIDEOHOLICA International Video Art Festival (Varna)
was presented at the
International Video Festival in Kansk
(Siberia, Russia)
by Pavlina Mladenova (co-director of Videoholica). The
Kansk Video Festival took place from 21st to 31st
August 2009. Videoholica Festival took part in the Kansk Video
Festival showing a selection of video art in the
section Special Program of European Short Films, Cartoon
Films and Video Art along with the presentation of a
selection of experimental films from the Festival Vallecas Puerta Del Cine (Madrid, Spain), the
International One-Minute Film Festival Videominuto
(Italy) as well as short and cartoon films from the
Festival InterFilm (Berlin, Germany). The Videoholica Festival was presented on 28th August
2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the Kansk Town House of Culture.
The International Video Festival in Kansk has been held
since 2002. That year’s Festival Program covers six
sections: an international competition, Japanese cartoon
films, other-type of movies, European independent
movies, children’s program and authors’ (presentation)
films. The organizer of the Video Festival in Kansk is
Studio Videodom (Moscow, Russia). Short films and video art from 24 countries were
competing in the program of competition of the Video
Festival in Kansk, which shall be estimated by an
international jury with the popular actor and stage
director Mikhail Efremov being the chief of jury, and
members of the jury Pavlina Mladenova (curator,
co-director of the Video Art Festival Videoholica,
Bulgaria), Nicolay Khrustalev (film critic, Estonia),
Federico Schmucler (film director, Mexico), Walera
Kanischtscheff (InterFilmWostok Festival curator),
Andrey Smirnov, (film director, Izhevsk Cinema Club
Director, Russia), Oleg Ponomarev (artist, curator,
Russia), Gerard Ribera (video artist, Spain) and Fabrice
Maruca (film director, France). For

Videoholica 2009 took place over the period of 4 -13
August 2009 in Varna and passed under the PEKING DUCK OR
VIDEO IN TIME OF CRISIS motto.
The venues of the International Video Art Festival
Videoholica 2009 were the Varna Archaeological Museum
and
Varna Puppet Theater.
Videoholica 2009 presented 89 videos by the 71 artists
from 31 countries from submitted -
344 videos of 138 artists.
Besides the conventional video screening, Videoholica
2009 presented
Tricky Women festival of animated film (Viena,
Austria),
S–AIR (Sapporo, Japan),
VisualContainer – Italian video art distributor
and web video art TV (Milan, Italy) and the
NoPassWord №0 festival for contemporary art
(Genoa, Italy).

The Videoholica Festival took part at the
International Festival Process – Space(Balchik,
Bulgaria) with projections of
video art selection of the
2008,
presented by Neno Belchev and Tsvetan Krastev. The
18th festival Process – Spacetook
place from 14 - 28 June 2009 in Balchik. The motto was NEW / MADE
directed to stimulate the artists of the young
generation into research of new fields and tendencies in
the visual and applied arts. The curators Dimitar Grozdanov and Penka
Mincheva have concentrated theirs attention entirely to
the young generation.

VisualContainerTV
is the first
Italian Web Tv, which is welcoming group exhibitions and
festivals under the care of artists and curators from
all over the world.
VisualContainerTv is a project by
VisualContainer
in
collaboration with Streamit HD Web TV. VisualContainerTV presents the contemporary video art
world in real time, which is available to all enthusiast
and professional audience. The above project is the result of the commitment
carried out by art critic Giorgio Fedeli and video
artist Alessandra Arnò, on the urge for giving
visibility to emerging Italian video artists in Italy as
well as abroad.

26, 2008, VIDEOHOLICA took part in the project
University of the Ideas in
the Caffe Teatro – Sociale
(Biella, Italy) with curators Pavlina Mladenova and
Sakiko Sugawa.
University of Ideas at Caffe Teatro – Sociale was
organized by the residents of the
University of Ideas (UNIDEE)
as
part of an event series in collaboration with
Cittadellarte - Fondazione
Pistoletto, and
with the generous support by Cafe Teatro – Sociale,
Biella.
“University of Ideas at Caffe Teatro – Sociale” realized
a series of events that are connected with the
contemporary art and culture scene in Biella,
investigating methods of how to communicate with people,
who don't initially choose to participate in the events.“University of the Ideas in the Caffe Teatro – Sociale”
included “Power Point Refractions” – visual installation
(24 September 2008), “Video Art Biellese Biennial” –
video projections (26 September 2008) and „To Meet” –
performance (1 October 2008).
The
Selection of Videoholica
2008
took
place in the “Video Art Biellese Biennial”, which
presented also the video art project by Adelina
Popnedeleva "10 Years Video Art in Bulgaria", and
various international video artists.

The debut of VIDEOHOLICA video art festival was held in
the period 8 – 15 August 2008 in Varna within the
framework of the sixth issue of the International
Biennial for Visual Arts AUGUST IN ART.
The art institutions of Varna offered their premises for
the VIDEOHOLICA Festival expositions, among which were:
The Concert Hall of the
Varna City Radio, the inner courtyard of the City
Gallery of Varna, the inner courtyard of the
Archeological Museum, the Art Gallery “Active
Art”, the small garden behind the
Puppet Theater, and the inner courtyard of the
Art Gallery “Georgi Velchev”.
The curatorial team selected 210 art pieces by 187 authors from the received
357 videos by 224 artists from 49 countries. More
